Political whistleblowers threaten Nigeria’s fight against corruption ― Rep UZoma

Representative Nkem Uzoma has warned Nigeria against the emergence of political whistleblowers.

Contributing to the Whistleblower Bill jointly sponsored by Femi Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos) and Kayode Oladele (APC, Ogun), Uzoma said, “whistleblowing now appears to be a new form of business in Nigeria because they are being rewarded. The motivation in blowing the whistle might not be to expose corruption any longer but what will be gotten as reward.”

eading the debate on the bill, Oladele said: “Corruption is not just a crime but a crime against humanity,” adding, “even though we have agencies fighting corruption, we need to involve the people and also protect them.
“There is no law to protect the people…People are afraid of political whistle blowing and political witch hunting.”
