Verbatim: Rep says Grazing Law unfavourable to Nigerian neighbours

A member of the House of Representative, Aishatu Dukku, has said laws against open grazing of cattle would be unfavourable to herders outside Nigeria.

Dukku spoke on the floor of the House during the week and said the law would prevent herders from outside the country from feeding their animals within the nation’s territory, as had been the practice.

She said this in response to Grazing Law that is being implemented in Benue and Taraba states.

The law prevents herders from moving their animals freely in the public and also on farmlands.
