The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has amended the charges preferred against for National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasukitimi Jacobs on Monday.

The EFCC’s counsel Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) told the court at the resumed trial that the anti-graft agency has decided to amend the charge to 31 counts as against the initial 19 count charge brought against the former NSA.

Jacobs also added that amendment excluded the second defendant, Shuaibu Salisu. He urged the court to accept the application for amendment and asked for a date for re-arraignment.

In response, Dasuki’s counsel, Mr Ahmed Raji (SAN ), agreed to an adjournment on grounds that he is yet to study the amended charge because he was served on Monday evening.

Counsels to the second, third, fourth and fifth defendants aligned with Raji for adjournment.

The judge, Justice Hussein Baba- Yusuf, accepted the prosecution’s application for amendment and adjourned the case until May 16 for re-arraignment.

Dasuki was arraigned in 2015 alongside ex-Director of Finance and Administration, Office of National Security Adviser, Shuaibu Salisu; former General Manager, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Aminu Baba-Kusa, and two firms- Acacia Holdings and Reliance Referral Hospital.
