Reps reject religious freedom bill
Members of the House of Representatives on Thursday rejected a Bill for an Act to Amend the National Human Rights Commission Act, 2004.
According to it sponsor, Mr Edward Pwajok (APC, Plateau) the proposed amendment sought to create a Special Department to be known as Department of Religious Freedom in the Commission which shall be saddled with the Responsibility of Receiving and Handling Complaints bothering on Violation of Freedom of Religion as Enshrined in Section 38 of the 1999 Constitution.
