Conference of Political Parties to INEC: Declare Adeleke winner of Osun election

Conference of Registered Political Parties in Osun State has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the gubernatorial election conducted in the state on Saturday 22nd September, 2018.

Speaking through its chairman, Adekunle Omo-Aje, the coalition said Adeleke fulfilled all constitutional requirements that make him winner of the election.

INEC had declared the poll inconclusive, and announced a rerun in seven polling units on Thursday.

“We the conference of Registered Political Parties, Osun State chapter, as participants in the Osun state gubernatorial election held on Saturday 22nd September, 2018 state as follows: One, we denounce the decision of Independent National Electoral Commission to declare the result of the governorship election inconclusive, and its failure to announce Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke as the winner of the election, having scored majority of the lawful votes, thereby satisfying the provision of the 1999 constitution as amended and other extant laws of the land,” the coalition said in part.
