Lai Muhammed’s first day as Minister of Information and Culture
The new Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed has said that the ministry is vital to the government’s success.
He said the power of information could not be over emphasized and as such, the ministry must leverage on it to bring the desired change needed in the country.
The minister stated this during his first official interaction with officials of the ministry in his office in Abuja.
Mr. Mohammed termed his emergence as a minister as privileged and not a right promising to do his best to add value to the system.
“We are the main drivers of the change mantra and other development activities of government and as such we must see ourselves in the ministry as change agents.
The Nigerian civil service has a robust system that is highly dedicated and skillful with all the requisite ingredients to add value to what is going on in the new administration, to this end, I urge the staff of this ministry to do their best.”
He told his directors that their duties should not be just be limited to being spokespersons but they should be serious agents of change with a value chain embedded in it.
“The President’s agenda is just about the good of Nigeria. As civil servants, don’t bother about political affiliation of the principals, yours is to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians by doing your part of the bargain. Do your jobs, do your best because this is a dawn of a new era in this ministry.”
