Lagos-Ibadan Rail: Nigerian govt. hires consultant for construction of rail lines
The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved a memo for the hiring of a consultant that will supervise the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan railway.
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, said this while addressing State House correspondents after the council meeting.
The minister said the same consultant would also supervise, when the construction of the Kano-Kaduna railway is awarded.
Amaechi, however, did not disclose the identity of the consultant.
He said the FEC also approved that transaction advisors begin negotiations with General Electric to conclude the concession of the narrow gauge, which starts from Lagos to Kano to Funtua, Kaura-Namoda and then from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri, which includes Aba, Umuahia, Enugu, Markudi, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe unto Maiduguri.
