Exclusive: Nigerian Police tear gas ‘peaceful free El- Zakzaky’ protesters

The Shi’te Muslims took to the street of Abuja at the early hour of Thursday, September 22, 2016 in protest demanding for the release of their leader Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Zakzaky.

What appeared to be a peaceful protest from the onset took a different turn when the Police opened fire on the protesters using rubber bullets and teargas. Despite the police blockade and fire power, the protesters charged-on in numbers against the policemen.

There is no report of casualty yet as at the time of filing this report.

You will recall that Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky was arrested December 13, 2015 after a bloody faceoff with the Nigerian Army in which hundreds were killed and left many injured.
