Speaking at a media briefing held at the commission’s headquarters on Wednesday, chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu said “the cost was a little over a hundred million, not one billion naira”

The recall was conducted in 552 polling units and in seven local government areas in Kogi state. According to the chairman, a substantial part of the money was spent on staff payment and logistics.

INEC has on Saturday, April 28, 2018, conducted verification of signatures to the petition for the recall of Mr. Melaye. Only five percent of the electorate turned out in an exercise that required 51 percent majority to succeed. Of the 189,870 signatories, only 18,742 were verified after Saturday’s exercise
