5 Abuja residents arrested for faking coronavirus infection

Five residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were on Saturday apprehended by the Police Command who invaded the Wuse General Hospital with an erroneous claim of having contracted the Novel Coronavirus. 5 Abuja residents arrested.

Parading the suspects at the Wuse Zone 3 Divisional Police Station, Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjuguri Manza said the suspects, however, claimed to be playing out a script about the virus without the knowledge or authorization of the relevant authorities of the FCTA.

Following this, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Public Health has assured that there is no confirmed case of Coronavirus in the FCT and, therefore, advised residents to remain calm.

Director of Public Health in the FCT, Dr. Josephine Okechukwu made this known during the parade of the suspects saying, the FCT and indeed the country is free of the coronavirus as there is no confirmed case of the disease anywhere in Nigeria.

The suspects include: Peggy Shandi (M), Abayomi Adedoyin (M), David Gold Enemigin (M) Priscilla AJesola (F) and Jacob Oji (M).
