2019: Atiku is President that Nigeria needs – Supporters

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar on Friday picked presidential nomination form of the People’s Democratic Party. Atiku, who is set to possibly face President Muhammadu Buhari at the 2019 presidential poll, should he secure the party’s ticket, was former president between 1999 and 2007 during the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo. He has variously tried his luck at the nation’s presidency but failed. He did in 1992, 2007 and 2011.

Abubakar will be slugging it out with Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Kano State and a serving senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former chairman of the party, Ahmed Makarfi, governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo among others. Addressing journalists at the Wadata House National Secretariat of the PDP in Abuja, a member of the groups who “bought” the ticket for the contestant, Adai Edwing, said: “This is a massive movement, unprecedented in the history of Nigeria; the first of its kind. These are the supporters of Atiku Group worldwide. From Lagos, Kano, Benue, home and abroad. Everybody, we came together because we believe in his capacity.

We believe Atiku Abubakar has seen the good, the bad, the ugly in politics. “And, we are saying that he is the right person to lead this country. And, that is why on that note the entire support group galvanized and mobilized people who contributed N100, N500, from the poor to the cripple, to all market women, civil servants, professionals, we all gather together to purchase this form, to charge him that we as his supporters, we want him to go and contest and represent us. “We are tired of this government, we are tired of the failed promises of APC, this is the man that will correct the injustice in the society.”
