2018 budget: How Unilorin’s management deceives Nigerian government to recover debt

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday 10th January, 2018 revealed how leadership of University of Ilorin, Kwara State padded its budget to enable it recover its debt.

The management, represented by its Vice-Chancellor and Bursar, Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem and Mr Abiodun Saka Yusuf respectively revealed how they had run the school into debt by spending monies than accrue into the institution.

Prof. Abdulkareem told the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, while defending its budget, that he inherited debt from his predecessor, now Registrar, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.

A member of the committee, Oluremi Tinubu, scolded the management and said it was ‘confusing’ the committee.
